What is a computer adaptive test? What is a computer adaptive test? 1.17.08
A computer adaptive test such as the GMAT is a computer administered test
that changes the level of the every question based on your performance in the
previous question.
For example: if you answer correctly a certain GMAT question, a more difficult
questions should follow. If, however, you answered a certain question wrong,
an easier question should follow.
On the GMAT, there is also an importance to the location of your errors. On the GMAT,
early questions are more important than later ones. If you made a mistake on
one of the first 5 questions, it would be harder for you to correct the drop in level
than in case you made your first mistake after the 10th question.
Adaptive exams are considered to be advanced testing methods although they raise
a lot of opposition. Some opposers of the adaptive testing method claim that
it is unfair for some people who have a hard time excelling them although
they might reach very high scores if tested on paper.
Computer adaptive test will probably continue to be the future of testing in the following
decade. It will be interesting to watch it develop in the next few years.
GMAT flashcardsGMAT flashcards 12.15.07
Many students are using self-made flash cards to study for exams in which
they are asked to memorize a large quantity of small details.
For example, when preparing for the GMAT, GRE, SAT, LSAT and similar standardized
tests, many students prepare a common vocabulary list. Or, students prepare
a personal GMAT formulae page containing all the math review necessary to
prepare for the exam.
The use of flash cards allows our memory to digest a lot of small details and math
formulas that we would otherwise soon forget.
In order to prepare your flashcards, make a list of all the rules, vocabulary and
formulas you want to remember. Buy a bunch of empty cards, write down up to 10
details per card. Now start to go over a few flashcards every day and try to mark what
you already know well and what you need to go over again. Repeat this process until
the day before your exam.
Bare in mind that many companies are now offering flash cards to buy online. Some
companies offer GMAT or GRE flash cards in their software or other preparations
solutions. Some even offer them for free when you buy their preparation solution.
MBA computer simulationsMBA computer simulations 11.23.07
Today's MBA students have grown so used to computers and computer
simulations that even top business schools are considering a replacement
of the commonly used method of "case study" by online computer games.

Computer simulations are a common solution that helps people prepare for
computerized standardized exams worldwide. Although classroom experience is still
the most common test preparation solution to prepare for computerized exams
such as the GMAT and GRE, more and more students are turning to the use of
relatively cheap, high quality software available online, to complete their full
practice of these exams.
Most computer simulations are especially designed to closely simulate
the actual GMAT or GRE exam thus giving the test taker an experience very close
to the one he will have on the actual GMAT or GRE exam.
